Visiting Artist Workshop: Kathy King

Kathy King This 2-day workshop will focus on providing a stage for narrative imagery on ceramic forms through the combination of thrown and hand-built parts. The demonstration will focus on creating large-scale, stacked forms from assembled parts and the treatment of the surface through "sgraffito" carving as well as glazing techniques.

Alternative methods of combining imagery and clay will be demonstrated, including the use of traditional printmaking techniques. Kathy will present a slide lecture of both historical and contemporary examples of the use of narrative in ceramic in addition to a presentation of her own work.
