Class Description:

This course is designed for individuals who have limited or no prior experience with clay and wish to acquire fundamental skills in pottery wheel techniques for crafting functional pieces. The sessions will include demonstrations on essential processes like wedging, centering, and shaping various items like vases, mugs, bowls, and plates. Participants will also be taught basic methods for glazing and decorating. Enrolled students will have the opportunity to use the studio during lab hours and will receive a complimentary 25 lb bag of clay. While personal clay tools are not included, they are available for purchase at Mudflat.

Class tuition: $800

Independent Study tuition: $800

Affiliated tuition: $700

Students will pick one class to enroll in. Your tuition includes open lab hours and 25 lbs. of clay (which includes both glazes and firing costs). There is a $10 surcharge per bag for porcelain clay. Students purchase additional clay from Mudflat throughout the semester. Students may not bring in any clays or glazes from other studios or suppliers.

Personal clay tools are not provided for adult classes, but may be purchased at Mudflat. A basic set of five tools costs $30.00-$45.00. An assortment of clay tools are available for sale at Mudflat.
