Community Guidelines

Mudflat Pottery School Inc is committed to providing a safe, productive, and welcoming environment free from discrimination and harassment for all participants, including students, faculty, studio artists, staff, board members, and the public. Mudflat leadership is committed to ensuring that the studio is a space where people of all identities and abilities feel respected and valued.

It is expected that everyone at Mudflat will contribute to a culture in which all participants feel personally safe, listened to, valued, and treated with fairness and respect. We expect everyone to embrace these values and to express them in studio interactions and through everyday practice.

Expected Behavior:

Mudflat expects that all participants will:

  • Be considerate and respectful to all in our community.

  • Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behavior, materials, and speech.

  • Have respect for our facility and equipment; treat with care and clean up after yourself.

  •

Inappropriate Behaviors:

Mudflat does not tolerate discrimination or harassment of any kind.

Discrimination: Treating a person differently from others based on age, race, ethnic identity, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, socio-economic background, political affiliation, or religion.

Harassment: Creating an environment that is hostile, intimidating, or abusive, through verbal or physical conduct, and that interferes with a person’s ability to participate in studio activities.

Reporting & Consequences :

If you experience discrimination or harassment, or feel uncomfortable, or notice that someone else is being discriminated against or harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of the Mudflat staff immediately.

We expect all individuals to uphold the Community Guidelines. If it is determined that a harmful incident has occurred, Mudflat may first seek a solution through conversation and possible accommodations based on the willingness of those involved. Mudflat may be obligated to investigate and take action against an offending individual, up to restricting participation at Mudflat, if their actions fail to respect these guidelines or devalue the teaching and learning experience for the larger community.
