Each semester we invite the entire Mudflat community to create works in clay that respond to a theme. Participants have most of a semester (12-14 weeks) to think about, design and make their piece. Every piece that is submitted is accepted for a group exhibition. Each artist is asked to write 2-3 sentences describing how their piece relates to the theme and what prompted them to make this work. Awards are given at each exhibition by our juror (our current Artist-in-Residence): Well-crafted, Conceptual, Experimental, and Juror’s Choice.

June 27-July 19: JAMES LEE WEBB

In 1996 Mudflat began offering a one-year residency position to clay artists. This highly competitive program provides a private studio space at no cost with access to Mudflat’s facility, a monthly materials stipend, and opportunities for the resident to teach and sell their work. The residency culminates in a solo exhibition and reception at Mudflat in August to showcase work created during the residency year.

Opening Reception: Thursday June 27, 6-8 pm
