Our Studio.

The Mudflat facility is a 16,000 square foot building located on Broadway in East Somerville.

We have 4 classroom areas: The Wheel 1 classroom has twenty-four electric pottery wheels, Wheel 2 has twelve electric wheels, and Handbuilding has eight canvas tables, a slabroller and two extruders. The seminar classroom is available for slide presentations, lectures and workshops. Three gas-fired kilns, five electric kilns, a soda kiln, two glaze rooms and a spray booth room are available for firing and glazing work.

 

Students can select from four different clay bodies and over sixty slips and glazes for both high and low temperature firing methods.

 

There is a kitchen/lounge area with an exterior balcony, and a smaller reading lounge area.

Mudflat has 19 separate studio spaces for 38 ceramic artists, in private, semi-private and small group studios.
