Deb Schwartzkopf creates functional wheelthrown work at her Seattle, Washington studio, Rat City Studios. In this one day workshop she will demonstrate a variety of wheelthrown forms that she then alters and combines with hand built sections. She will discuss how she approaches form, decoration and glaze finishes.

Deb was Mudflat’s Artist in Residence, 2008-2009.

Deb earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Alaska and completed a Masters of Fine Arts at Penn State. She has taught at Ohio University, Massachusetts College of Art and Design, University of Washington, and University of Georgia’s study abroad program in Cortona, Italy. Deb has held national and international residences and has exhibited work locally and abroad. She settled Seattle in 2009 and has created a communal pottery studio, Rat City Studios, where she instructs community clay classes and workshops, mentors studio assistants, and creates her ceramic artwork. Deb was recently named “Ceramic Artist of the Year”, and is featured in the 2019 Ceramic Arts Yearbook, published by Ceramics Monthly.
