Visiting Artist: Holly Curcio

Sunday, June 9, 2019 -
1:00pm to 4:00pm

VISITING ARTIST: Holly Curcio: Ceramic Restoration at Home

Sunday, June 9, 1 pm – 4 pm

Tuition: $100.00, members $50.00

We have all had a cherished ceramic piece break and wondered how we can repair it. In this one day workshop Holly Curcio will demonstrate restoration techniques using materials that are easily accessible. She will begin by showing images of current and historical restoration methods. Holly will then demonstrate how to put the broken pieces back together. There will be time for students to try her technique on a broken piece of their own or on broken pieces provided. This process is good for decorative repairs on low fire/porous ceramics, not suitable for food use. Holly will also discuss finishing details.

Holly was Mudflat’s Artist in Residence, 2011-2012.

Holly received her MFA from Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ and her BFA from the University of Massachusetts in Dartmouth, MA. She has taught courses in Ceramics and 3D Design, completed public art commissions, and exhibits her work nationally.  She has spent time at several artist residencies, including the Mudflat AIR residency at Red Lodge Montana last fall. Holly currently works as an art restorer at Restoration Services, Arlington MA, and maintains a studio at Mudflat.
