Katie Fee will present a one-day workshop to share her wheelthrowing and altering techniques. She will include demonstrations of techniques for throwing incomplete parts to combine into complex forms, and throwing and prepping clay forms to be cut into faceted pots. She will show her preferred methods of slip application by dipping, wiping and brushing. And she will discuss her experiences, inspirations and influences and their effect on her work.

Katie was Mudflat’s Artist in Residence, 2017-2018.

Prior to her residency at Mudflat, Katie Fee completed the Ceramics Post-Baccalaureate/Graduate Program at University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. She earned a BA from the College of William and Mary, majoring in Studio Art and Geology, receiving highest honors for her capstone research thesis in soda-fired pottery. Katie was a winter resident at Penland School of Crafts in 2016 and has worked as a studio assistant at Richmond Visual Arts Center and for artist Mike Jabbur. Most recently, she is an artist in residence at the Morean Center for Clay in St Petersburg Florida.
