VISITING ARTIST: Meghan Sullivan: Sculpting the Head

In this one day workshop Meghan Sullivan will demonstrate her handbuilding techniques for making a head. She will show how she starts her process with building a solid form, then hollowing out areas. She will discuss facial anatomy considerations and will talk about her glazing process. There will be a short hands-on component for participants to create eyeballs!

Meghan was Mudflat’s Artist in Residence, 2001-2002.

Meghan Sullivan is a ceramic figurative artist. Currently, she is the Uihlein Fellow for Studio Arts at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. She received her BFA in Ceramics from Massachusetts College of Art, a Post-Baccalaureate in Ceramics from University of Florida, and an MFA in Studio Art from University of Nebraska. She has received national and international residencies, including at Studio Shiro Oni, Japan; c.r.e.t.a., Rome Italy; and The Skopelos Foundation for the Arts, Greece, and next year in Red Lodge Clay Center in Montana. Meghan has extensive teaching and lecturing experience, and has earned recognition through many exhibitions and awards.
